Step 2: Make the Sauce

While the chicken is cooking, you can make the Thai sauce.

Mix the sesame oil, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, and sugar in a small bowl and set aside.

This will make a little more than is necessary, but you can add more to your tacos if you would like.

This sauce is spicy, so you don’t want to add too much!

Step 3: Add the Sauce

After your chicken has cooked for about 15 minutes, you can add 1/2 cup of the Thai sauce to your chicken.

Cook for a couple more minutes before serving.

Step 4: Serve the Thai Chicken Tacos

I usually use street taco sized tortillas for this dish. You could use small tortillas as well.

Street tacos are smaller than normal taco sized tortillas. Instead of two tortillas per serving, you can eat 3 street tacos easily because they are so small.

Besides the chicken, you can add extra sauce if you would like it spicier.

I usually top my tacos with mango salsa because I like the sweetness of it, and it offsets the spiciness of it a little.

You can also add shredded coleslaw and shredded Mexican cheese.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 17 minutes
Total Time 22 minutes
Course Main Dish
Cuisine Thai
Servings 6 people

Ingredients

  • 18 tortillas (street taco sized)
  • 22 ounces pre-cooked frozen chicken (diced)

Thai Sauce

  • 1/8 cup sesame oil
  • 6 tablespoons soy sauce (light or regular is fine)
  • 6 tablespoons sugar *(you can substitute Truvia if you are trying to stay away from sugar)
  • 1/2 cup sriracha sauce

Optional Toppings

  • shredded coleslaw
  • shredded Mexican cheese
  • mango salsa

Instructions

  • Cook frozen chicken at medium heat for about 15 minutes.
  • While the chicken is cooking, you can make the sauce. Mix the four sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  • After the chicken has been cooking for 15 minutes, you can add 1/2 cup of the Thai sauce. Cook for a couple more minutes before serving. You can add more sauce if you would like, but it will make it spicier. The rest of the sauce can be used if someone wants extra sauce directly on their taco.
  • Serve the chicken on tortillas and add additional toppings such as shredded coleslaw, mango salsa, or cheese if desired.

Notes

*If you use Truvia in place of sugar, make sure you use the correct amount according to the bag.
I used frozen diced chicken in this recipe because it's easy, but you could also use fresh chicken.
The tortillas I use are street taco size (3 tortillas per serving), but you could also use small tortillas instead.
If you want to top your tacos with mango salsa, try our recipe!
