I started making my own Pico de Gallo years ago after going to an open house and eating authentic Mexican Pico de Gallo. I’ve also tried buying it from the grocery store, but it went bad before I could use it all.
This recipe is for a small amount and is intended for you to use it all right away. It doesn’t taste as good if you store it in the refrigerator and eat it later. If you are making food for a lot of people, then you can easily double or triple this recipe.

Pico de Gallo Ingredients
- tomatoes (any kind works, but grape tomatoes are best)
- garlic powder
- crushed red pepper
- hot sauce
- fresh cilantro
Pico de Gallo Instructions
This Pico de Gallo recipe only has a few steps, so it shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes at the most to make it.
Step 1: Cut the tomatoes
If you are using grape tomatoes, dice them and place them into a bowl.
If you use another kind of tomato, you will want to get rid of the watery inside parts.
Step 2: Chop the onion
Cut the onion into small pieces and add it to the tomatoes.
Step 3: Add the spices & hot sauce
Add the garlic powder, crushed red pepper, and hot sauce to the bowl and stir.
Step 4: Add cilantro
Chop up or tear apart the cilantro and mix it with the rest of the ingredients.
You can add more cilantro if you would like.
Step 5: Serve
Serve the Pico de Gallo with chips or add it on top of your favorite dish.
