1. Maui Moisture Curl Smoothie or Curl Milk
If you have curly hair that gets frizzy, check out this coconut oil curl smoothie by Maui.
I really like this product for many reasons. The price is higher than a lot of cheap brands but still less than a lot of other brands.
The scent is really light. Strong smells – good or bad – give me a headache, but this one does not. I think the product works really well.
You put this product in your hair after you have washed it and it is still damp. You can also use it on dry hair as well.
It really does keep the frizz down without making your hair greasy.
2. Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie or Curl Milk
This Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie is similar to the Maui Moisture Curl product.
The smell is light but pleasant. It does cost a little more money.
It works well, but you have to be careful with how much you use. If you use too much, your hair can feel gunky.
3. OGX Shampoo & Conditioner
I like both the shampoos and conditioners from OGX.
They are in the middle range price wise – not the cheapest but not the most expensive. Our local grocery store puts them on a sale a lot.
There are lots of different kinds for different hair types.
Right now I have the Kukui Oil shampoo. It is for hydrating and de-frizzing.
I have tried other types too. My favorite is the coconut milk one. Some of the others have too strong of scents for me.
Here are some of the other kinds you can buy:
- Hydrating TeaTree Mint
- Nourishing Coconut Milk
- Argan Oil of Morocco
- Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen
- Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil
- Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng
4. Suave Professionals Conditioner
Suave Professionals conditioner is relatively inexpensive but works pretty well.
There are many different scents and options for different hair needs.
We have the coconut and vanilla right now, but I really like the almond and Shea butter one.
You can buy these conditioners in large 28 ounce bottles.
5. Ultra Swim Shampoo
This chlorine removal shampoo by Ultra Swim is great for a lot of reasons.
Although it’s made to get the chlorine out of your hair, it also just a great shampoo to use when your hair feels dirty.
I find that this is a good shampoo to use when I have to deal with hard water.
You can also buy their conditioner, but I’ve never tried it.
6. Neutrogena T/Sal Shampoo
If you have problems with an itchy and oily scalp, then you should definitely try Neutrogena’s T/Sal shampoo.
It’s not the cheapest shampoo, but it’s the only shampoo that I’ve found so far that makes my scalp not itchy.
I have an oily scalp that is constantly itchy, but this shampoo helps relieve the itchiness. Sometimes it makes my hair a little oilier, but not too bad.
7. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is great for a lot of different things, but I like to use it on my scalp to help with itchiness.
If you have problems with your scalp, you should try using tea tree oil.
I put a few drops of tea tree oil into about a tablespoon of olive oil. Then, I massage the oil into my scalp and let it sit about a minute.
Next, I shampoo my hair twice to make sure that my hair doesn’t look greasy. You can use conditioner as well, but you don’t have to put any on your scalp.
This usually helps my scalp for several days, so you don’t have to use it every day.
8. It’s a 10 Leave-In Conditioner
I discovered this leave-in conditioner by It’s a 10 when I received a sample of it in my Ipsy bag last year.
This leave-in conditioner is more on the expensive side, but it works really well.
I have tried other leave-in conditioners and they didn’t leave my hair feeling as nice as this one does.
Plus, this leave-in conditioner smells really good and doesn’t leave the top of my head looking greasy.
