I’m always looking for new apps to download that allow me to read even more books. These 12 book apps will help you find more books to read and love!

Book Apps that Allow You to Read for Free

A few of these apps allow you to read eBooks and listen to audio books completely free if you have a library card.

While there are some libraries that don’t offer books through these apps, most libraries do!

There are also a couple that don’t require a library card.

1. Libby

Do you love to read? Check out these awesome free book apps! #reading #books #readmoreOut of all the library apps, Libby is my favorite.

The Libby app allows you to find popular eBooks and audio books.

You just need a library card to access Libby.

Through my library, I can borrow up to 50 eBooks and audio books at a time using this app.

They have a lot of popular books to choose from, so there’s lots of interesting things to read.

You can add tags to books to create lists.

I created a tag called “to read” that I give to all the books I’m interested in reading.

You can also adjust the formatting settings like the font size, style, and background color.

 

 

 

2. Hoopla

Do you love to read? Check out these awesome free book apps! #reading #books #readmoreUsing your library card, you can register for Hoopla for free.

Through my library, I can borrow up to 12 titles per month.

Hoopla has eBooks, audio books, music, movies, and TV shows available for free.

They have tons of things to choose from, so you will never run out of books to read.

If you download an eBook, you can even read it offline for free!

Besides the awesome app, you can also use Hoopla on your computer. This is especially useful if you want to watch movies on Hoopla.

 

 

 

3. RB Digital

RB Digital does not have as many books as Libby or Hoopla, but it still has popular books that you might be interested in reading.

You can check out books and download them to read any time.

This service is also available on your computer.

 

 

4. My Books

There are tons of classics in the My Books app.

You can download books and read them offline.

 

 

 

5. Wattpad

Do you love to read? Check out these awesome free book apps! #reading #books #readmoreDiscover new authors when you use the Wattpad app.

I usually read fanfiction stories on this app, but there are tons of other books on here that you can read.

There are lots of authors that start off writing on Wattpad and then go on to publish their books.

You can find stories of all different lengths and topics, so you’ll never run out of things to read.

The website works the same way as the app.

 

 

 

6. Apple Podcast

Although Apple Podcast is primarily for listening to podcasts, there are also audio books that you can listen to for free.

I have listened to the Jane Eyre audio book on there, and it was great quality.

I don’t know if Android has a similar app or not because I have an iPhone.

 

 

 

7. Apple Books

You can purchase books through Apple Books, but you can also download free books on there.

They have a list of eBooks that are available for free that you can read any time.

What’s also great about Apple Books is that they give you lots of recommendations for other books that you might like.

8. Scribd

Do you love to read? Check out these awesome free book apps! #reading #books #readmoreScribd is a reading subscription service that you can access through an app on your phone or on their website.

This subscription is $8.99 a month, but it gives you unlimited eBooks, audio books, magazines, documents, and sheet music to read.

You can also download books to read offline.

9. Kindle

I just recently downloaded this app because I wasn’t aware of it when I got my Kindle. It’s really nice to be able to sync my library between devices.

Plus, there are lots of free books that I can read through this app.

To use this app, you must have a registered Kindle.

If you have a different kind of e-reader, you can search to find a similar app for your device. I know that there is one for Nook, but I’m not sure about any others.

10. Bookbub

It’s also helpful if you are looking for new book recommendations.

You can either download the Bookbub app or sign up using your email address.

Every day, you will get new recommendations.

I have downloaded quite of few eBooks for free that I discovered through Bookbub including one of my favorite book series.

 

 

11. Goodreads

Do you love to read? Check out these awesome free book apps! #reading #books #readmoreIf you love to read and keep track of books you’ve read, then Goodreads is a great site and app to use.

You can also connect with your friends on Goodreads to see what they are reading.

On Goodreads, you can rate books you’ve read, track your progress through books you’re currently reading, and add books to a list of ones you want to read.

Besides the books you’ve read, want to read, and are currently reading, you can also create more shelves to sort your books however you like.

You can also get book recommendations, read other people’s reviews, and so much more!

 

 

 

12. Libib

You can access Libib through the app or on their website.

Keep track of all your books, movies, CDs, etc. using this free app.

You can scan bar codes or manually add books that you own.

I use this app to keep track of all the books I own so that I don’t accidentally purchase them again.

With this app, I can easily search through my books to see if I already own something.

If you’re a teacher, you could use this app to track your class library.

There’s so much that you can do with this free app.
