Road trips with kids can be a lot of fun if you have ways to entertain them for long hours. We have created 6 road trip ideas for kids on long car rides in hopes that your vacations will run a little smoother! These games are easy to play, and they are a lot of fun! We have also included FREE printables of each game, so that you can start playing them right away!

These games can be printed out over and over again. You can also choose to laminate them or place them in clear page protectors and use dry erase markers!

1. Spot a Person Car Game
This is an easy game to play with any age person!
You have a list of different descriptions of people like: riding a bike, with black hair, pushing a stroller, etc.
The object of the game is to find as many people as possible to match the descriptions.
The hard part is that you can only use a person for one category. For example, if you see a person with black hair riding a bike, you have to choose which description to cross off (you can’t choose both!).
We have created a list of descriptions that you can use, or you could make your own.

2. Transportation Car Game
This game is fun for anyone that can add points.
The object of this game is to reach 250 points. Each mode of transportation is worth a different amount of points.
We have included a list with point values, or you can make your own.
Here are a couple examples: semi truck is worth 10 points and a cement mixer is worth 40 points.
Bonus: kids will use math skills to add up the points, so this game is educational!

3. Travel Bingo Car Game
Most people have played some form of travel bingo, but we have created one that has levels.
This means that each person starts with a bingo card at level easy and then makes their way up to the hard level cards.
We have included 2 cards for each level (easy, medium, & hard). They have pictures with words underneath them, so kids of all ages should be able to play this game easily.
This is one of our favorite road trip ideas for kids on long car rides because of the different levels. It takes a while to find all the items!

4. The Arrow Car Game
This is a great game for young kids. It is very simple, but you could change it up for older kids.
Basically, you have to find an arrow pointing in the directions of north, south, east, and west.
For small kids, they could just try to find the 4 arrows, but for older kids you could make it harder. They could see who could find the most arrows total.

5. The Flag Car Game
This is another good game for anyone that is able to add up points.
The object of the game is to reach 100 points. Flags are worth different amounts of points.
We decided to have American flags be worth 5 points, Sports Team flags 2 points, and other flags 1 point each.
You could definitely change up the point values and add other types of flags like state flags or have a certain team flag be worth more points.
6. Over, Under, & Through Car Game
To play this game, you need to be able to keep track of points as well as make an educated guess at the beginning of the game.
Here’s how you play: At the beginning of the game, every person decides what number they will be at when they reach their destination.
Every time you go over a bridge or overpass, you get 1 point.
When you go under a bridge or overpass, you lose 1 point.
If you go through a tunnel, your points return to zero.
The winner is the person who is closest to the number they chose at the beginning of the game.
This game is best if played when traveling on highways or places with lots of bridges.
