#1 Cloth Storage Bins

cloth storage bins

If you have any tall pieces of furniture in your bedroom that have space on top, you can use cloth storage bins to organize things like purses, hats, and other miscellaneous items.

What I like about cloth bins is that they won’t scrape up the top of your furniture, and they are pretty lightweight.

I use four cloth bins on top of my tall desk.

Cloth storage bins come in a variety of styles and colors, so you can easily find some to match your room.

You can find them at most department stores and on Amazon.

#2 Makeup Storage

makeup bag organization

Since I am a member of Ipsy makeup subscription, I receive a small makeup bag in the mail each month.

These bags are great to use as a small purse, but I like to use them to store my makeup products.

Since I have been a member for a while, I have a lot of little bags that I can use to sort the different products I have.

If you have never tried Ipsy, you should read my post about why I love it so much.

If you are interested in signing up for Ipsy, you can sign up here.

#3 Shoe Storage

I use two different items to organize my shoes. For shoes I wear the most, I hang them in my over the door shoe organizer. I switch up which shoes are in this organizer twice a year.

Door shoe organizers are pretty inexpensive to buy. Check out these cheap ones you can buy from Amazon.

The shoes that do not fit in this organizer I store in flat bins underneath my bed. I am able to fit four decent sized bins underneath my bed even though my bed is really low to the ground.

You can store other things under your bed, but I have found that shoes fit under there really well.

You can purchase flat bins at department stores, or you can buy them online at places like Amazon.

#4 Hooks

jewelry hooks

Although I use a jewelry box and jewelry stand, I have a lot of necklaces that don’t fit there. I have a couple different hooks that hang on my walls that hold my necklaces as well as my keys, umbrella, and hair ties.

Hooks are pretty cheap to buy and hang up. You can put them in a lot of places even if you don’t have a big room.

You can purchase the same octopus hook I have or other cool hooks on Amazon.

#5 Photo Storage Boxes

photo storage boxes

Photo storage boxes can be used for a lot of things besides pictures.

I use them to store cards I’ve received, journals, coin purses, and other stuff.

The nice thing about photo storage boxes is that they are pretty cheap, and you can buy ones with different patterns and designs on them.

Most of mine have come from Michaels from when they were on sale for $2.

#6 Shower Caddy

shower caddy

A shower caddy is a great tool to organize different skincare and hair care products. Shower caddies aren’t just for college dorms.

Back when I was in middle school, I turned an ice cream bucket into a shower caddy by sewing a cover with pockets. I don’t actually take the shower caddy into the bathroom. It’s just great to store things like lotions, nail polish remover, my combs, makeup remover, face masks, etc.

#7 Plastic Baskets

Plastic baskets are great for organizing a lot of different things.

I have two that I keep under my dresser to put extra clothes that don’t fit in my dresser or closet. My dresser has a lot of space underneath it, and with some homemade raisers, there is enough room for the baskets to slide easily underneath it.

I also have a small basket in my closet that I keep gloves, mittens, and hats in. This is helpful because I don’t have to worry about losing gloves.

I have another basket that I keep clothes in. In the summer I keep small sweaters in it, and in the winter, I keep thick socks in it.

Plastic baskets are great alternatives when you don’t have enough drawers for clothing.

#8 Cups & Pottery

Things like makeup brushes and pens can easily be organized in glasses or vases.

In high school, I made a cup in pottery class and a small vase that I use for pens and makeup brushes.

You can use any glass you want, so it won’t cost you much at all.

#9 Bucket

I don’t have a lot of room to keep my curling irons, crimper, and hair straightener, so I keep them in a bucket.

This works well because it’s deep enough the keep them from falling over.

The bucket I use is an iCarly bucket from when I was a kid lol, but you could use any bucket or deep bin.

#10 Special Hangers

My closet is super tiny, so I use some special hangers to make my clothes fit better.

I have a few hangers that hold four shirts each, and I have a few that can hold four skirts.

They can help you fit more clothes into a small closet.

You can buy them at department stores and on Amazon.
