1. Library Movies

A couple years ago I discovered that I could check out movies at my local library for FREE! Yes, really for free. I was so excited that I went to my local library and got a library card. My library gives out free library cards to people who live within the county. Some libraries do charge a small fee to have a library card, so you will want to check at your local library.

In my town, there are different library branches, and they all share the same library materials. So, I can check out a movie at one library and return it at another. I can also request a movie to be sent to a certain library. They have so many movies to choose from, so you will never run out of new movies to watch. Libraries keep up with new movies that come out on DVD and Blue-Ray, so you can watch them right away.

Also, many libraries include online streaming with your library card. One of the streaming services that I receive through my library is called Hoopla. They have some popular movies, but they also have a lot of movies that I have never seen before. This is cool because I get to watch movies that never were in theaters, and some of them are pretty good!

So stop by your local library and start checking out FREE movies!

2. Movie Reward Programs

Most movie theaters have reward programs that allow you to get points for every movie ticket you purchase. These points can then be spent on concessions.

If you have ever bought food at a movie theater, then you know how expensive it can be. Reward programs allow you to actually purchase food at movie theaters without breaking the bank. Plus, who doesn’t love earning money for something that they were going to buy anyway.

4. Buying Used Movies

If you are like me and want to own your favorite movies, then buy them used! I have bought so many of my movies at garage sales and thrift stores. Most garage sales I visit only charge $1 for a movie on DVD. A lot of thrift stores only charge $2.

When you buy used movies, you should always check to see if the disc is in good condition. I will not buy ones that have a lot of scratches on them.

5. Cheap Movie Theaters

In a lot of cities, there are movie theaters that will show movies after they have been out in theaters for a while or are no longer in most theaters. These theaters usually charge a lot less for you to see a movie and may even have concessions deals.

One of the theaters in my town shows kids movies all summer for a reduced rate. They also have food specials for kids.

Check out your local theaters to see if they have any specials going on.
