  1. Hey, Jessica. I agree this looks like a great list to me. I’m curious what you know about TJX’s “in-store giveaways & experiences.” I’m also more generally curious as to your opinion about free items and financial rewards vs other experiential benefits of these retail customer loyalty programs. Are the credit cards just about getting discounts and a hassle after-the-fact, or are they also convenient to use and to manage store-specific credit accounts? I know this is kind of an open-ended questions, but I would love any tips you have?

    1. Hi Mike, thank you for reading our post and asking some great questions!
We do not personally have a TJX reward card because we don’t shop there enough. If it’s anything like other programs I’ve been a member of, I would suspect that you would receive emails about things going on in your local stores that other people may not know about. For example, sometimes I receive emails for a store in my area that I will have access to a special they have going on only because I receive their emails. Other people don’t know about them if they are not a member.
I would say that all free reward programs are worth joining if you ever shop at those stores. Why not earn free things if you’re already planning on shopping there?
As far as credit cards go, the benefit to using store credit cards is definitely the higher rewards that can be earned. If you are good with using credit cards and paying them off right away, then they are great for the rewards and positive impact they can have on your credit score. If you sometimes forget to pay credit cards off right away or you charge credit cards when you really don’t have that much money, then I would NOT suggest you open any store credit cards. Store credit cards are only beneficial if used responsibly. I like to think of store credit cards in a similar way to cashback credit cards. They can save you money and build your credit, but they only work well if you know how to use them responsibly. If you are afraid that you might spend to much with a store credit card, I would just stick with store reward cards that are free and can’t be used as a credit card.
Hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  2. Thank you for this comprehensive list! Store loyalty programs are a great way to save money and I appreciate you listing out all the benefits at each store!
