Have you been going to garage sales this summer? I sure have!
Most weeks are pretty good, but this past week was less than stellar. I did find a few things, but it seemed that there wasn’t much to choose from.
Some sales I visited priced their items too high. My son actually went but was disappointed when he asked the price for some weights for lifting. They were $125! That was a little steep.
A lot of the other sales seemed to follow the same path.
It can get discouraging when I don’t find much. It makes me just want to stay home.
I just remind myself of some of the great bargains I have found in the past.
Here are 10 of my best garage sale finds. They were priced great, and I still have all these items!
Best Garage Sale Finds #1 : Star Wars Helmets
Price: 50¢ each
These Star Wars helmets are from Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.
The one on the left is Anakin’s podracing helmet, and the one of the right is a Naboo Fighter Pilot helmet.
Both of these helmets are nicely made, and I have used them on multiple occasions.
Best Garage Sale Finds #2 : R2-D2 Cooler
Price: $5
This cooler is about 26 inches tall, and I’ve never seen another like it.
Best Garage Sale Finds #3 : Steamer Trunk
Price: $5
This vintage steamer trunk had been used to hold candle making supplies. It had been painted aqua, but it still looks pretty cool.
Best Garage Sale Finds #4 : Kid’s Folding Table & Chairs Set
Price: $20
This kid’s table and chairs was advertised in the garage sale ad. I got to the sale when it opened to buy it.
I bought it as a Christmas present for one of my kids.
It is really well made and folds away for easy storage.
The top of the table was scratched up, so my husband put a piece of Formica on it.
Best Garage Sale Finds #5 : Vintage Playmobil Castle
Price: $15
This is the older Playmobil castle where the pieces could be made into multiple designs/styles.
This is more than one set, and it was very expensive to buy it new.
My kids played with this a lot when they were younger.
Best Garage Sale Finds #6 : Corner Cupboard
Price: $3
This corner cupboard was found at a church sale. I had a Ford Escort at the time, and it couldn’t fit inside. So, I ended up tying it to the top of the car with men’s ties from the sale.
I couldn’t pass up a $3 corner cupboard!
It was an ugly green color when I bought it, but I have painted it twice to match different rooms.
I have used it to hold my globe collection, and it used to hold my Raggedy Ann collection.
Best Garage Sale Finds #7 : Rug
Price: $5
This is a 5 by 7 foot rug. It was in really good condition, and I needed a rug for one of my rooms.
Tip: make sure if you buy anything cloth at a garage sale you check it for bedbugs!
Best Garage Sale Finds #8 : Rockband/Guitar Hero Set
Price: $20
This Rockband set came with the Rockband drum set, Guitar Hero microphone, 6 Guitar Hero guitars, and the game Rockband 3.
I had been looking for one, but they were too expensive at the time. There was no price on it, and I asked the lady how much it was. She said that it was $25. I asked her if it worked, but she wasn’t sure. So, I offered her $20 and she took it.
Best Garage Sale Finds #9 : Overhead Projector
Price: $2
I bought this at a retiring teacher’s sale. The bulb had to be replaced, but other than that, it works perfectly.
I have used it many times to make cardboard stand ups and posters. It can also be used to paint a scene on a wall.
Best Garage Sale Finds #10 : Melodica
Price: $3
This melodica is an actual instrument, not just a toy. It was made in Germany, and it came with a case, booklet, and extra mouthpiece.
I like to use it with my Easy Play piano books since I don’t read music very well.
We hope you feel encouraged to shop at garage sales now. You may not find something at every sale, but don’t feel discouraged! There are treasures out there!

I agree with Annie about the awful blue corner cabinet—covered with graffiti!
GO IRISH!☘️
We went to an estate sale.late the second day. We were looking for a small freezer . He had one for $5.00. While I was paying for it my daughter was hugging a late model Refrigerator, IAsked how much. $5.00. Does it work. Yes. How do we get it home . Said he would deliver for free. Have have had it for 3 years. Have only had to buy filters. Love that fridge.
That’s so awesome! We love it when we find just what we’re looking for at garage sales for way less money.
I wouldn’t give 2 cents for that ugly blue corner cabinet. GO GREEN.😁😁
lol
Fabulous simply fabulous. I use to go to lots of GS. I quit because there was nothing I was finding.
However I enjoyed yours very much. Maybe I will try again
Thank you for the read !
Thanks for the kind words! Some weeks I find lots of things at garage sales, and other weeks I find hardly anything. You should definitely try again. You never know when you might find a great deal! Thanks for reading!
All I can say is wow, wow and WOW. Jessica these garage sale finds are awesome! Have you looked up the resell value of any of them?
We have looked up some of them in the past. The value for some of the things change over time, but they were definitely all worth quite a bit more than we paid for them. We were just glad to find them because they are all things that we have kept. Thanks for reading our post!
I took my mom to a near by yard sale and she wanted the exercise bike that a lady was selling it has the big wheel in front and you move the handles back and forth while you peddle it. She wanted $125.00 for it the 2nd. lady told us and she wouldn’t budge even a few guys sat on it to try it out and when they found out how much they walked away . Crazy price for something used. I grew up on yard sailing. It is definitely worth it when finding treasures.
It’s always so frustrating when people put too high of prices on items we’re interested in. We do love finding good deals though!
I love seeing what other people find! We would’ve snatched up those helmets for sure!
Thank you Ashley! Glad you liked it 🙂
