If you are looking for teen birthday ideas for girls, a dress-up party is a great idea! This party idea works for birthdays or any other get together. Teen girls of all ages will love this fun party idea!
We did this party idea for a group of junior-high girls at our church. You could do the same thing for younger girls or even high school girls.

Preparation for Dress-Up Party
We planned our party well in advance (at least 2 months) so that we could get all the different things for dress-up.
To start, think of what you want to have for your party.
Fancy Dresses
You could have each girl bring dresses they already own for others to try on.
We opted to buy cheap prom dresses and homecoming dresses from resale shops.
Some of them came from the “dollar rack” at a local upscale used clothing store.
We also happened to be at Salvation Army when they had a special 96ยข sale on yellow tags. We bought at least 10 dresses at that price.
It is important that you have a variety of styles and sizes so that everyone has something to wear.
You can also search garage sales in the summer to find great deals on dresses.
Accessories
We chose fancy gloves, hats, jewelry, and scarves for our accessories.
Some of these came from church sales (a great place to find old hats, gloves, and jewelry). We also found some items at thrift stores.
An antique store had pairs of fancy gloves for $2 each, but it would depend on how much money you have to spend.
We didn’t bother with shoes, but if you have access to fancy shoes, that would be fun also.
Beauty Products
Before the girls dressed up, they had the option to use face masks and get their nails painted.
You could easily get some face masks, nail polishes, makeup, and anything else you would use to make yourself look fancier.
If you want the girls to have their hair done, you could have curling irons, hot rollers, straighteners, and any other hair styling tools you would like to use.
You could have barrettes, clips, bobby pins, etc. for their hair.
Food
Since this is a fancy party, consider making some fancy treats such as finger sandwiches, crackers with cheese, fancy cookies or candies, etc.
You could also have sparkling grape juice in real or fake plastic champagne glasses. Another option would be water with lemon or lime slices in it.
If you had the room, you could have a fancy dinner with china and a beautifully set table.
Set Up for the Dress-Up Party
We set up a curtain to be a plain background where we could take pictures.
You could also set up some furniture or something else to use as props.
It is also a good idea to have somewhere for girls to be able to change whether it’s another room, a curtain, or a privacy screen.
A long mirror is also nice to have for the girls to see themselves in.
Hang the dresses up and spread out the accessories for the girls to choose.
Have a space where girls can use face masks, get their nails done, apply makeup, and have their hair done.
Set up a table for the food and drinks.
What to Do at the Party
After everyone pampers themselves with face masks and food, the girls can paint each other’s nails and do makeup and hair.
Then, have the girls try on different dresses, and then they can choose one outfit to wear for the rest of the party.
You could watch a movie together as well.
If you purchased dresses and accessories that you don’t want to keep, you could draw names for the items and have the girls take them home.
Since we had bought our dresses and accessories, we let each girl take home a dress and two accessories.
