Games make a great Christmas gift for all ages. Last year we put together a list of some of our favorite adult board games. This year we have added games for kids as well as more for adults. These are all board games to play with family.
We consider these to be good board games to play with family because adults won’t necessarily have an advantage over kids when they play with them.

Board games good for 4 or less people
If you have a smaller family or only a few people playing, these games will be more suitable to you.
Upwords
Game for 2—4 players ages 8+
This is one of my favorite games. It is similar to Scrabble, but you can build on top of words. I like it because it doesn’t take as long to play as Scrabble.
If your family enjoys word games, then you should definitely check out Upwords.

Crossfire
Game for 2 players ages 7+
This is another two-person game. It has some similarities to Hydro Strike, but you don’t get wet.
Each person has an attached gun with a chute with metal balls. There are three targets in the center of the board. Each person tries to shoot the targets into the other person’s goal.
This game is fast-paced and can get intense, so it is a lot of fun!

Pop-o-Matic Games
Games for 2—4 players ages 6+
Pop-o-Matic games are games such as Headache and Trouble which have a die under a bubble that you push to change the roll of the die.
Kids really like to push the bubble (and you don’t lose the die).

These board games can be played with bigger groups of people than the other games we have mentioned.
Kismet
Game for 1 or more players ages 7+
This game is similar to Yahtzee, but the dice are two different colors which allows other sets that Yahtzee doesn’t have such as a “flush.”
If your family likes Yahtzee, then you should definitely check out Kismet.

Catch Phrase Star Wars Edition
Game for 2 teams ages 12+
If you like regular Catch Phrase and you are a Star Wars fan, you will like this Star Wars version of Catch Phrase. It uses words from the Star Wars universe instead of common words or phrases.
The object of this game is to get your team to guess the word on the screen. You have to give clues without saying the word. There is a time limit which makes this game fast-paced.

Quelf
Game for 3—8 players ages 16+
This game is great for families with older children.
Quelf is a really different kind of game. You move along by rolling a die, answering questions, and following rules.
What makes it fun are some of the cards you draw on your way to the finish line. You might get a card that says, “For the rest of the game, you have to say everything twice.” There are other silly cards as well.

Dicecapades
Game for 2—6 players ages 12+
This game has many different dice from very tiny to multiple-sided. On your turn, you may have to try to roll the numbers 1—10 in order in 60 seconds. You might have to stack the dice from smallest to largest or name as many presidents as the number you roll on the dice.
It is a wacky game that kids and adults will enjoy.
